Human Beings as Worlds within a World

A human being's consciousness is an entire world within this world. His or her perception is unique, has its own worldview, and essentially acts like a world itself, because their consciousness has their own unique construct of reality. The reason I take this view is the moral path it leads me down. If I kill a human being, I am not just killing a flesh and blood machine, I am killing an entire world. From a christian moral view, Jesus calls us to love our neighbor as ourself, the second of the two greatest commandments.

Plato, in his development of his theory of Forms and Ideas, hypothesized the existence of a realm of perfect forms or perfect ideas, of which all things in our realm are imperfect "imitations" of. He called this place the Hyperuranion, which in Greek meant "the place beyond Heaven." In his mind, the hyperuranion was higher than the gods. No One is a Lost Cause

     There is not a single human being on the planet who is a lost cause. There is hope for anyone and everyone who still draws breath in this world. Even into eternity and the realm of God there is always hope and mercy to be found for those who lost so much and had such misfortune or detriment fall upon them in life. Jesus is the great rescuer of the lost. The great savior of sinners and broken people.
